2009 H1N1 VACCINE ADMINISTRATION FEES

2009 H1N1 Vaccine is being provided by the federal government; therefore providers administering the vaccine cannot charge the patient or their insurance plan for the cost of vaccine itself. However, certain providers may charge for the administration of the vaccine. The amount of the administration fee may vary.

Fee may be charged out of pocket (cannot exceed the Medicare regional rate of $19.70) or to the insurance plan.

Medicaid Patients

No fee out of pocket.

Fee may be charged to the insurance plan, not to exceed reimbursement specified in state Medicaid plan.

Fee may be charged to the insurance plan, not to exceed reimbursement specified in state Medicaid plan.

At this time N.C. Medicaid does not recognize certain providers (including pharmacies) for the purpose of immunization administration, and therefore will not cover administration fees billed by those providers.

Check with your health care provider to determine whether N.C. Medicaid will accept an administration fee billed by them.

Medicare Patients

No fee out of pocket.
